In hope you are not here to hate: there is also a novel and a manhua(manga).

The manhua is definetly gay, the novels genre is danmei(chinese BL) and xianxia(magic martial arts) but in my opinion it could be interpreted as bromance until later volumes (with one offical couple), because its written in a roundabout way. The donghua(anime) could also be interpreted as bromance because of chinese censorship.

The story is wholesome, exiting, cool, dramatic and magical. It lets you forget earthly genderboundaries in love an friendship. (although you can see chinese sexism sometimes)

To answer your question: the anime is not oozing with gayness, but the fandom is. :3
